1. Acceptance of Terms
- •By creating an account and using Acorn Academics, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
- •If you are a parent or guardian creating an account on behalf of a child, you accept full responsibility for your child's use of the service.
2. Description of Service
- •Acorn Academics is a guided homework helper that provides step-by-step tutoring for children in grades K-8 across multiple subjects including Math, Reading, Writing, Grammar, Science, and Social Studies.
- •The service uses guided learning technology to generate personalized guidance. It is designed to help children learn, not to provide direct answers.
- •Acorn Academics is a supplementary educational tool and is not a replacement for professional tutoring, teaching, or your child's school curriculum.
3. Subscriptions and Billing
- •Acorn Academics is a subscription service. The current price is $19.99 per month, billed through Stripe.
- •Subscriptions auto-renew monthly unless cancelled before the next billing date.
- •You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- •We may change pricing with at least 30 days notice. Existing subscribers will be grandfathered at their current rate until the next renewal.
- •Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Please contact Base44 support for refund requests.
4. Acceptable Use
- •You agree to use Acorn Academics only for legitimate educational purposes.
- •You will not share your account credentials with others outside your household.
- •You will not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the service.
- •You are responsible for ensuring your child uses the service appropriately.
- •You will not upload content that is illegal, harmful, or inappropriate for children.
5. Parental Responsibilities
- •As a parent or guardian, you are responsible for setting up your child's profile with accurate information (grade level, learning needs, etc.).
- •You are responsible for monitoring your child's use of the service.
- •You control whether session data is saved for review through the "Save Sessions for Review" setting.
- •You are responsible for setting appropriate session time limits and learning preferences for your child.
6. Educational Disclaimer
- •Acorn Academics provides guided learning support that may occasionally contain errors or inaccuracies.
- •The service is designed to guide children toward finding answers themselves, not to guarantee correct answers to every problem.
- •We do not guarantee specific educational outcomes or grade improvements.
- •Parents and children should always verify answers against their school's curriculum and teacher instructions.
7. Intellectual Property
- •Acorn Academics, including its content, design, and the Juanita the Squirrel character, is owned by the app creator and is protected by intellectual property laws.
- •Content generated during tutoring sessions is for your personal, educational use.
- •You may not redistribute, copy, or commercially exploit the service or its content.
8. Limitation of Liability
- •Acorn Academics is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
- •We are not liable for any educational decisions made based on the service's guidance.
- •Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid in the preceding 3 months.
- •We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Account Termination
- •You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your settings.
- •We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms of Service.
- •Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
10. Changes to Terms
- •We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email.
- •Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing Law
- •These terms are governed by applicable local and federal laws in the United States.
- •Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration where permitted by law.
