1. Information We Collect
- •Parent account information: When you register, we collect your name and email address to create your account.
- •Child profile information: You create profiles for your children including their name, grade level, subjects, and learning preferences. We use this to personalize the tutoring experience.
- •Session data: When your child uses the tutor, we may store the conversation transcript, problems worked on, and progress data — but only if you enable "Save Sessions for Review" in your child's settings. If this is disabled, sessions are not stored after they end.
- •Usage data: We track aggregate usage metrics (sessions completed, features used) to improve the product.
- •Payment information: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number — Stripe handles all payment data securely.
2. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
- •Acorn Academics is designed for children in grades K-8. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- •We do not require children to create their own accounts. A parent or guardian must register and create child profiles.
- •We do not collect personal information directly from children. All information is provided by the parent.
- •We do not use children's data for behavioral advertising or targeted marketing.
- •Session recordings are only saved if a parent explicitly enables this feature, and are automatically deleted after 7 days.
- •Parents can request deletion of their child's data at any time by contacting us through Base44 support.
3. How We Use Information
- •To provide personalized tutoring sessions tailored to your child's grade level and learning needs.
- •To generate session summaries and progress reports for parents.
- •To improve our tutoring quality and develop new features.
- •To send you important account and service notifications.
- •We never sell your data or your child's data to third parties.
4. Data Security
- •All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
- •Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.
- •Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only.
- •Session data, when saved, is automatically deleted after 7 days.
5. Your Rights
- •Access: You can view all data associated with your account through the parent dashboard.
- •Deletion: You can delete your child's profile and all associated data at any time from the parent dashboard.
- •Opt-out: You can disable session saving, voice features, and email notifications at any time in your settings.
- •Data export: You can request a copy of your data by contacting Base44 support.
6. Technology and Data Processing
- •When your child interacts with the tutor, their messages and any uploaded homework images are processed by guided learning technology to generate tutoring responses.
- •We use reputable technology providers that have their own privacy and data usage policies.
- •We do not use your child's data to train learning models.
- •Homework images are processed to extract the problem and provide guidance, then are not retained unless session saving is enabled.
7. Changes to This Policy
- •We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email.
